All four models in the Mini Mac range of Horizontal Directional Drills are specifically designed to cater for those horizontal directional drilling jobs
where access and working space are limited, such as last mile fibre connections but where you
still need the power to get the job done efficiently and accurately.
Product Features:
Options on thrust/pullback of either 26,680N or 53,380N and torque of either 813Nm or 1627Nm.
Body just 1500mm (1000mm version available) in length and 400mm wide which means Mini Mac’s will go in all those spaces other drills just can’t access.
Carriage, which can be quickly removed from the body by simply removing the Ram Driving Pin, disconnecting the hydraulic connections and sliding the unit off the body
Control panel, which can be swivelled and operated from either side of the machine and quickly removed for ease of transport. All Quick Release Hydraulic Connectors are colour
coded to identify matching connections.
Fully integrated Sliding Front Spanner and Rod Guide, which can be pulled back to allow tooling and services to be retracted over the body for connection and disconnection.
Sliding Spanner assembly which can be quickly removed from the body by removing the locking pins and sliding the unit off the body
Unique double acting balanced ram provides the same high level of thrust and pullback without compromising in any direction. Eliminates problems experienced with chain driven
systems and minimises dead length in the machine.
Working stroke of 1005mm and 127mm of working clearance for connecting and disconneting rods.
Adjustable End Bracing Feet or Jacking Feet, which can be readily removed when required, simply sliding into the body tubes.
Seven optional stake down points, the machine being supplied with Stake Down Pins.
Various options to easily and quickly convert all Mini Mac models to Surface Launch with hydraulic Auger Stakedown.
All models supplied complete with 20 metres of
drill rods
with Trapezoidal Taper Threads for maximum torque transmission and strength. (each 878mm long).
All four models in the Mini Mac range are available in a shortened body format of just 1000mm. In this format the rigs are supplied with rods which are 378mm long. Radius End Jacks are also available
for these machines to suit Caisson mounting.

The Mini Mac range of Drill Rigs are designed specifically to service those jobs where access and space are limited, such as last mile fibre connections. This can be achieved using the machines in their base Pit Drill form, or by coupling them with any of the Surface Launch options available, making the Mini Mac’s extremely versatile Horizontal Directional Drilling Rigs.
With a choice of four models, the range provides for economy with the Standard Mini Mac offering low cost of entry into Trenchless Contracting or Horizontal Directional Drilling, while at the top end of the model range, the powerful Mini Mac III is capable of drilling jobs up to 250mm in diameter and drill shots of up to 100 metres in length.
Designed for ease of use, Mini Mac Horizontal Directional Drilling machines will suit both experienced directional drilling contractors and tradesmen such as plumbers and electricans. Hydraulic control consists of two self centering levers for variable control of Thrust/Pullback and Spindle Rotation. The Mini Mac III is also fitted with a Hydraulic Flow Splitter to enable balancing of the power ratio between Thrust/Pullback and Rotate as required.
With a body, constructed from a single folded sheet of 5mm Steel Plate with welded in cross bracing and down tubes, the Mini Mac chassis is extremely strong and torsionally stiff.
All fittings, parts, motors, valves and hoses used are of the highest quality and make for a machine which is built to last, highly rugged and provides for minimal maintenance.
The Mini Mac body at just 1500mm long (Shorter 1000mm long body versions available with rods at 378mm long) and 400mm wide, houses the unique double acting hydraulic ram which delivers equal levels of thrust and pullback, directly driving the Carriage on all models and delivering 1005mm of working stroke and 127mm of working clearance.
Fully modular, all models are designed to be easily dimantled and broken down. By simply removing the drive pin locking the Carriage to the Ram and disconnecting the hydraulics, the Carriage can be removed from the body. Similarly, the Breakout Spanner can be removed from the body by removing the two locking pins. The Control Panel also lifts off the body and can be disconnected from the hydraulics and water with its quick connect fittings. This reduces the machine weight down to a manageable level, where two able bodied people can lift the chassis assembly into those tight spots.
Alternatively site transport and handling can be managed using the optional On Site Transport Trolley, which is supplied as two separate units or axles, one set of wheels being castored to provide steering and both axles simply slotting into the down tubes on the body, providing ease of movement on site. A further option is the On Site Pit Drill Lifting Trolley in which the Mini Mac is slung from its four lifting eyes and which provides winching into and out of the pit as required. The Lifting Trolley is again fully modular and by removing the quick release pins, it folds flat for ease of storage.

Mini Mac machines can be powered either from their own stand alone
Hydraulic Power Pack
or where a suitable auxiliary power source is available such as an on site excavator, this may be used, provided that the specified pressure and flow rates are available to ensure optimal machine operation. Refer to the Specifications section of this page.
Fluid supply to the drill rod stream is provided from a stand alone
Fluid System
which is connected at the Control Panel.
Directional tracking and control of Mini Mac Drill Rigs can be achieved using any suitable proprietary equipment and a range of Mini Sonde Housings or Drill Heads are available along with a full range of tooling.
To provide complete versatility for any of the Mini Mac models, three options are available to provide Surface Launch capability. Firstly we offer a complete vehicle trailer version of the Mini Mac, similar to our
Midi Mac Trailer model enabling you to tow the Mini Mac to site and surface launch. Secondly we offer a stand alone Surface Launch Frame which can be folded flat while still attached to the Mini Mac if preferred and dropped complete into the pit when drilling, enabling the frame to be used as additional stakedown in the pit. The Surface Launch Frame literally never has to be removed, unless preferred. Thirdly we offer the 'Wheelbarrow Trolley' which enables you to roll or 'wheelbarrow' the Mini Mac off your transport trailer onto site. All three options have fully adjustable launch angles and all are supplied complete with a hand held Hydraulic Auger Stakedown System, complete with two Augers providing solid ground anchoring for your Mini Mac Surface Launch. In all three options the Mini Mac can be mounted and dismounted from the unit with ease and is locked into place using securing bolts through four of the Mini Mac Stakedown Tubes.
